South Korea works to the Korean Building Code and KDS design standards with KS material specifications such as KS D 3503 and KS D 3515. Welding and inspection follow the KS B series, and product certification is demonstrated through the KS mark.
Singapore has adopted the Eurocodes as SS EN standards with a Singapore National Annex, so structural steel is designed to SS EN 1993 and executed to SS EN 1090-2. Building plan approval runs through BCA, and steelwork commonly requires an accredited fabricator and independent inspection.
Hong Kong uses the Code of Practice for the Structural Use of Steel issued by the Buildings Department, which is British and limit state based with local amendments. Steel materials must come from recognised classes of supply, and fabricators and welders work under a defined qualification and inspection regime.
