Square Hollow Section

Square hollow sections give you the structural advantages of a closed profile — no weak axis, high torsional stiffness, a small footprint for the capacity — with the practical advantage of four flat faces that welds and bolted plates sit against cleanly.

Sizes are quoted as side × side × wall thickness, for example 100 × 100 × 6.3. Wall thickness is what drives capacity within a given outside size, and it also determines whether the corners are formed hot or cold.
