152 x 152 x 23 kg Universal Column S355
Rolled as a universal column measuring 152.4 × 152.4 mm, the 152 x 152 x 23 kg Universal Column S355 is the section you reach for when the member stands up and carries load down. Column capacity falls away with effective length, so the same section can be perfectly adequate at 2.4 m and badly overloaded at 5 m. The design check is length-driven, not just load-driven.

At 23 kg per metre, one tonne buys roughly 43.5 linear metres. It is heavy enough to need mechanical handling on site, but light enough that a standard HIAB offload covers delivery in one visit. Held in S355 to BS EN 10025-2 and cut to length before it leaves the yard. Mill certificates accompany every load, and any fabrication is executed under our BS EN 1090 EXC 3 factory production control.
Typically specified for multi-storey load paths, building stanchions, storey-height posts, baseplate-mounted columns and goalpost frame legs.
Holding-down bolt positions are best confirmed against the setting-out drawing before the baseplate is welded on.
